This is the first original character in my redesign/redraw series. Her name is Lazuli, and she's a magician who lives by the sea. She has a sea otter named Lapis, and they are both pictured here together as a pair in this digital artwork I made.

My main goal was to redesign Lazuli and draw her again since my skills have improved from the time I created her. Her old design is here:

I wanted to keep signature details of her design, such as her blue pigtails and her cool color scheme, but I wanted to change her outfit and make Lapis look more like a sea otter. I'm happy I could make this possible, and it inspired me to continue this same process with my other characters.
